UBI CARES PROGRAM

In an ongoing effort to give back to the community that we live and work in, UBI has created the UBI Cares Program. Our employees with assistance from friends, family, clients and carriers identify worthy causes in the community and focus our efforts to help in a variety of ways. We usually pick 3 or 4 projects a year.

Below are some of our past projects.

UBI Cares is Proud to Support the Riley Foundation

UBI believes in building and supporting a healthy community. The Riley Foundation shares that vision. They support children whose parents struggle with addiction. The impact of addiction is felt by not only individuals but families. Together we can build healthier communities by supporting families in recovery.

UBI came together to make, sew and stuff 20 toy ponies to be used in play therapy and Children’s Workshops. Like the children served by the Riley Foundation, they are each bright and unique. The Children’s Workshops are based off of the 7 C’s…

  • I didn’t CAUSE it.

  • I can’t CURE it.

  • I can’t CONTROL it.

  • I can help CARE for myself by COMMUNICATING my feelings.

  • I can make healthy CHOICES.

  • I CELEBRATE myself.

This was an incredible and joy filled event.

UBI Cares about Providing Holiday Cheer for Children in Need

December 2015 UBI partnered with WVC Police and Honorary Colonels to provide and serve a family meal to celebrate Christmas for 63 low income families and their children. Children and their families came together to enjoy food, fun and family. Santa and his elves made sure that each child went home with a full belly, happy memories and presents to go under the tree. In addition to a filled stocking and toys, each child received:

  • 2 pairs of pants

  • 2 new shirts

  • A new winter coat

  • New socks and underwear

  • A sweater or jacket

  • New Shoes

This was an incredible and joy filled event.

UBI Cares about Pregnancy Resource Center

UBI Cares is proud to partner with Pregnancy Resource Center in providing Baby Quilts for the smallest clients served at Pregnancy Resource Center. Five handcrafted baby quilts were donated to the Incentive based Life Steps Parenting Class program. This program is free and designed to equip each client that chooses to parent with the knowledge and resources needed throughout the first year of their child’s life.

Pregnancy Resource Center provides Parenting classes, The Clothesline Program, free pregnancy tests and limited obstetrical ultrasounds as well as Sexual Health information and appropriate medical referrals. Their services are confidential, caring and free.

UBI also assisted financially by collecting Change for Life in Baby Bottles.

UBI Cares Partners with Unified Firefighters and UDK

UBI turned our conference room in a blanket production zone to support those in our community who fight the cold up close and personal. Employees donated their time and money to support to provide 25 new warm, colorful and comfort providing blankets to the homeless in our community. Cutting fabrics, layering, and tying each blanket was an act of love.

UBI Cares also donated 25 Winter coats to this great cause. Thank you Unified Firefighters and UDK for letting us be part of the solution!

UBI Cares About Fighting Hunger

We all know the cranky, tired, low energy feel of missing lunch because of being too busy. Imagine if that feeling was constant because of poverty. The UBI CARES TEAM came together to make sandwiches and sack lunches for the hungry in our community.

Fighting Hunger is a real battle going on in UTAH today. According to the Utah Food Bank, 1 in 7 Utahns are at risk for missing a meal because of poverty. 1 in 5 Utah kids are unsure where their next meal is coming from. A full 15% of Utah’s population is food insecure. UBI Cares made 200 sandwiches and healthy sack lunches to distribute to the Homeless community in Downtown Salt Lake City. Meeting the true faces of hunger had a real impact on those who participated.

UBI Cares is fighting the battle of Hunger in Utah ONE SANDWICH AT A TIME.

UBI Cares About The Road Home

The Road Home is committed to helping people step out of Homelessness and back into our community. UBI Cares shares the same values of compassion, respect and dignity.

UBI brought a truckload of donations, and two teams of volunteers. One to sort donations and one to clean the children’s play area. UBI enjoyed working at both the Salt Lake and the Midvale facilities. We left the shelter with a sense of accomplishment and some new friends.

UBI Cares About Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Living in our own homes and being able to take care of our own yards is something that most of us take for granted. UBI CARES met a neighbor who needed a little help. Our cute homeowner is 94 years young and she has called this house HOME for the last 65 years. Neighbors Helping Neighbors is committed to helping the elderly in our community care for their homes.

UBI CARES weeded, mowed, and generally transformed this overgrown yard back into a manageable landscape. Down Town Self Storage volunteered to let us load up one of their trucks and they took it to the city dump for us!
